Taranaki Sets Sight On Challenge

Taranaki Sets Sight On Challenge

24 Jan 2018

Revital Fertilisers Taranaki goes into the final round of the Furlong Cup with their sights set firmly on earning the right to challenge for the Hawke Cup, for that to happen the Taranaki side will need a near flawless game and hope Hawkes Bay slip up against Manawatu.

Taranaki sit 2nd on the ladder 6 points behind Hawkes Bay, with a maximum 16 points up for grabs there is a mathematical chance that the team can secure top spot.

The selectors hae been able to name a strong team with only Kaylum Boshier unavailable due to his involvement in the ICC U19 World Cup.

Taranaki will look to put early pressure on the Horowhenua side and no doubt put runs on the board through the top order of Peter Ingram, Eltham Vet Services Dean Robinson, Liam Muggeridge and India Today James McDougall.

Phil Barraclough comes back into the side and will take over the keeping duties from Jackson Braddock Pajo.  The selectors have realised they will need to pick up 20 wickets if they have any chance of securing top spot so have decided to play an extra bowler with Bailey Wisnewski making way for Ethan Keller.
