New Plymouth Marist United were crowned the Revital Fertilisers One Day Champions with a display of power hitting rarely seen at club level.
At 130 for 6 after 25 overs NPMU would have been hoping to get through to 200 to post a competitive total, what happened next was some sublime hitting from the middle to lower order starting with Ryan Watson who swung the momentum in NPMU's favour with 65 off 68 balls, he was supported in a 72 run 12 over partnership with Josh Barrett who made 62 off 53 balls, Barrett was joined by Jacob Richards who lit Pukekura Park alight with some senstational power hitting scoring 86 off 41 balls which included six boundaries and eight sixes. Richards innings helped NPMU post 320 all out.
If Woodleigh had any thoughts of winning the title they would have been relying on Peter Ingram to get them off to a flyer but Ryan Watson had other ideas as he had Ingram caught by NPMU skipper Jarred Cunningham on the 2nd ball of the innings, from there Woodleigh struggled through to 66 for 4 off 20 overs and was looking for a miracle similar to what they saw in the first innings. Woodleigh's skipper Moriz Hartmann combined with Nick Standen for a 120 run 5th wicket partnership that gave them a glimmer of hope however both of them departed in the space of 4 overs and Woodleigh succumbed to the scoreboard pressure eventually being dismissed for 259.
