The second edition of the North v South origin match was played at Pukekura Park Saturday 5th January, the North Taranaki side defended the title they won last year in a low scoring affair.
South Taranaki won the toss and elected to bat first on a very green looking wicket, the South side was in early trouble as both openers were knicked off cheaply. Liam Muggeridge (21) and Adam Keene (27) were the only batsman to get past 20 as each North bowler picked up a wicket with Davis Mills grabbing 3 for 22 off 8 overs. South all out for 125.
Norths reply didn't start well even though Josh Borrell came out all guns blazing taking 12 off the first 4 balls, unfortunately for him he went to the well once to often and was dismissed off the 5th ball of the innings, Quin Sorensen and Josh Roguski would follow cheaply, Shaun Sullivan (38) combined with Mattie Allen (23) in a 57 run partnership to settle the ship, when they were both dismissed Davis Mills came to the crease to see the North side home to a 5 wicket win, Mills finishing 22 not out.
